- 1 - Abstract: A recording tape cartridge has a lid member mounted on the cartridge case to rotate between a closed position and an open position. A clearance is defined in one corner of the case and a lid locking mechanism is provided in the clearance for locking the lid member in the closed position. The clearance is wider at its front portion than at its rear portion to facilitate entry of a release member of a recorder, should the cartridge be inserted slightly off-centre into such recorder or reproducer.
