Method of recovering a normally gaseous fluid containing sulphur compounds and elemental sulphur from an underground reser- voir (5), which method comprises constructing a well extending to the underground reservoir (5) and arranging in the well an open- ended tubing (12) extending to surface which tubing (12) is provid- ed at its lower end with a pump (14) driven by an electric motor (15), allowing reservoir fluid to enter into the lower end of the tubing (12), supplying power to the electric motor (14), and introducing a solvent for sulphur into the reservoir fluid upstream to the inlet (18) of the pump (14). Optionally the apparatus is further provided with an ejector (35) arranged upstream to the pump (14) driven by solvent jetted out of nozzle (40).
