ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the recovery of cellulosic fibre of papermaking quality from foil laminated papers and boards, the laminate is heated and pressurized in the presence of an aqueous liquor, subjected to rapid discharge to a lower pressure environment under reduced pressure and optionally subjected to mechanical agitation. This treatment provides a product stream which can be separated into cellulosic fibre suitable for the further manufacture of fibrous cellulosic articles and a metallic foil suitable for subsequent manufacture of metallic articles. -1-
