A gas separation apparatus and process has a first pressure swing adsorption (PSA) unit (110) receiving feed gas (112), which comprises a first and a second component. First PSA unit (110) produces first product gas (114) pre-dominantly containing the first component, and first offgas (116) containing at least some of the first component and second component. Compressor (120) is coupled to first PSA unit (110) to compress first offgas (116) to form compressed offgas (126), which is passed downstream to absorber unit (130), which employs a solvent to remove at least part of the second component from compressed offgas (126), forming an enriched compressed offgas (136B). Second PSA unit (140) receives enriched compressed offgas (136B) and produces second product gas (142) which predominantly contains the first component and a second offgas that is sent to waste or reformer burner (150). The present apparatus and process provide increased recovery of desirable components in the offgas from a PSA unit compared to the prior art.
L'invention concerne un appareil mettant en oeuvre un procédé de séparation de gaz, lequel appareil comporte une première unité (110) d'adsorption modulée en pression (PSA) recevant un gaz (112) d'alimentation contenant un premier et un second composant. Cette première unité PSA (110) produit un premier produit gazeux (114) renfermant principalement le premier composant, et un premier effluent (116) gazeux renfermant au moins une certaine quantité du premier et du second composant. Un compresseur (120) est couplé à la première unité PSA (110) pour comprimer le premier effluent gazeux (116), de manière à former un effluent (116) gazeux comprimé, que l'on introduit dans une unité (130) d'absorption en aval. Cette unité utilise un solvant pour éliminer au moins une partie du second composant de l'effluent (126) gazeux comprimé, formant ainsi un effluent (136B) gazeux comprimé enrichi. Une seconde unité PSA (140) reçoit l'effluent (136B) gazeux comprimé enrichi et produit un second produit gazeux (142) renfermant principalement le premier composant, ainsi qu'un second effluent gazeux qui est envoyé au rebut ou vers un brûleur (150) reformeur.
