This invention is directed to methods for recovery of C3-C6 alcohols from dilute aqueous solutions, such as fermentation broths. Such methods provide improved volumetric productivity for the fermentation and allows recovery of the alcohol. Such methods also allow for reduced energy use in the production and drying of spent fermentation broth due to increased effective concentration of the alcohol product by the simultaneous fermentation and recovery process which increases the quantity of alcohol produced and recovered per quantity of fermentation broth dried. Thus, the invention allows for production and recovery of C3-C6 alcohols at low capital and reduced operating costs.
L'invention porte sur des méthodes de récupération d'alcools C3-C6 dans des solutions aqueuses diluées telles que des bouillons de fermentation. Lesdites méthodes améliorent la productivité volumétrique de la fermentation et permettent la récupération de l'alcool. Elles permettent en outre d'économiser l'énergie lors de la production et la dessiccation des bouillons de fermentation épuisés, et cela du fait de l'accroissement de la concentration du produit alcoolique pendant la fermentation, et du processus de récupération qui accroît la quantité d'alcool produit et récupéré par quantité de bouillon de fermentation desséché. L'invention permet donc la production et la récupération d'alcools C3-C6 avec un capital et des coûts de fonctionnement réduits.
