ABSTRACT This invention relates to a process for recovery of oil from oil reservoirs with assistance from microorganisms. More particularly, the present invention contemplates a method for recovering oil from a reservoir comprising increasing the population of endogenous microorganisms in said reservoir, said microorganisms having surface active properties, to a level sufficient to effect enhanced oil recovery.
