A process for leaching precious metals from material containing precious metals, such as oxidic and sulfidic gold-bearing ores, is disclosed. The process includes the steps of: (i) leaching the precious metal with a leach solution containing a thiosulfate-based lixiviant; (ii) treating the material by oxidising precious metal in the material into a form that is leachable in a subsequent leaching step; and thereafter as a separate step.

Cette invention concerne un procédé de lixiviation pour matériaux renfermant des métaux précieux, tels que des minéraux aurifères oxydiques ou sulfureux. Ce procédé consiste à: (i) lixivier le métal précieux avec une solution de lixiviation renfermant un agent lixiviant à base de thiosulfate. (ii) traiter le matériau par oxydation du métal précieux qu'il renferme sous une forme telle qu'il puisse être lixivié lors d'une opération de lixiviation ultérieure conduite de façon distincte.
