A prescan process is performed in which an EPI pulse sequence acquires a series of pilot images. Each pilot image is acquired with a different slice selection refocusing gradient and a rephasing map is produced which indicates the optimal refocusing gradient to be used for each pixel. The rephasing map is used to determine the optimal refocusing gradient amplitudes to use in a subsequent scan to reduce signal drop out caused by susceptibility gradients.

On effectue un procédé de prébalayage dans lequel une séquence d'impulsions d'imagerie par échographie plane (IEP) acquiert une série d'images pilotes. Chaque image pilote est acquise avec un gradient de refocalisation de sélection de tranche différent et une carte de rephasage est utilisée pour déterminer les amplitudes optimales des gradients de refocalisation devant être utilisés pour un balayage suivant afin de réduire la perte de signal provoquée par des gradients de sensibilité.
