ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For the recovery of uranium from a solution in which the uranium is in valence (VI), a solution is formed containing ammonium (NH4+), fluoride (F-) and sodium hydrosulfite (Na2S2O4). This forms a precipi- tate (NaNH4UF6), a previously unreported compound. It can be dissolved in an aqueous solution of aluminum nitrate nonahydrate, Al(NO3)3 ? 9h2O. This produces uranyl nitrate hexahydrate, which can be extracted in solutions conventionally used for that purpose.
