RECOVERY PROCESS FOR KRAFT BLACK LIQUOR ABSTRACT The present invention provides a process for the recovery of inorganic compounds in kraft black liquor. The invention comprises the addition of small amounts of iron containing material to kraft black liquor before it is burnt in a fluidized bed to form pellets of substan- tially inorganic content. The sodium sulfate fraction of the pellets is reduced to sodium sulfide by contacting the pellets with a reducing gas stream. The reduced pellets are dissolved in water and the residual iron-containing compound separated to form a green liquor.
