A coiling machine configured to coil semi-rigid rectangular wires without using a core to wind the wire thereonto, yielding a free-standing coil is described herein. The coiling machine comprises a wire bending mechanism including a wire holding assembly for selectively immobilizing a wire and a wire bending assembly for bending a selected portion of the wire at an angle while the wire is immobilized by the wire holding assembly; a wire feeding mechanism for receiving the wire from a wire drawing mechanism and for feeding a length of the wire to the wire bending mechanism; and a controller coupled to the wire drawing mechanism, wire bending mechanism and wire feeding mechanism to control their operations for sequentially bending the wire at predetermined positions therealong so as to yield a coil of wire having a predetermined geometry.
L~invention concerne une bobineuse configurée pour bobiner des fils rectangulaires semi-rigides sans utiliser de noyau pour enrouler le fil autour, permettant d~obtenir une bobine autoporteuse. La bobineuse comprend un mécanisme servant à plier et à façonner le fil incluant un ensemble de maintien du fil pour immobiliser de manière sélective un fil et un ensemble de pliage et de façonnage du fil pour plier et façonner une partie sélectionnée du fil selon un certain angle, alors que le fil est immobilisé par l~ensemble de maintien du fil ; un mécanisme de distribution du fil permettant de recevoir le fil provenant d~un mécanisme de tréfilage du fil et de distribuer une longueur de fil au mécanisme de pliage et de façonnage du fil ; et un contrôleur couplé au mécanisme de tréfilage du fil, au mécanisme de pliage et de façonnage du fil et au mécanisme de distribution du fil pour contrôler leurs séquences d~opérations de pliage et de façonnage du fil à des positions prédéterminées sur ce dernier de manière à obtenir une bobine de fil présentant une géométrie prédéterminée.
