Abstract of the Disclosure The branches connecting the opposite-polarity terminals of a DC source are connected via respective thyristors to a common junction in a converter which can be of the DC to DC, DC to AC, or three-phase type. The current output is controlled as a function of a control voltage by combining inputs from a control voltage generator and a sawtooth pulse generator to a logic circuit which enables selected gates to be connected to the thyristor firing terminals. The other gate inputs derive from a firing pulse generator.
