ABSTRACT The coke oven recuperator consists of concentric inner and outer steel tubes adapted to be located, by means of an adjustable packing, vertically in the bottom wall of a recuperator chamber of a recuperative coke oven. Combustion air is introduced into the inner tube via an inlet from outside the chamber and emerges from the inner end of the tube and is turned back by the closed end of the outer tube so as to flow down the annulus between the inner and outer tubes where it picks up heat from the waste gases which are fed down through the recuperator chamber from a chamber inlet to a chamber outlet. The heated combustion air flows out of the recuperator via an expansion chamber and outlet to individual heating flues of coke ovens. The recuperator provides a recuperative coke-oven having better fuel consumption.
