A method of recycling asphalt roof shingles is disclosed and a recycled roof shingle produced by the method. Used asphalt shingles are ground into a granular mixture and added to hot liquid tar to form a hot semisolid cement. Thermal plastic containers, such as used plastic bottles, are formed into a plastic mesh. A sandwich is made of two layers of the plastic mesh with a layer of the hot semisolid cement therebetween. The sandwich is compressed and cooled and coated with tar to form a new shingle.
