A method of maintaining a given content of a substance A in an aqueous solution where it is continuously consumed and where the redox potential E, at least within the range of concentration used, approximately satisfies the equation: E = G + F(x) wherein x is the content of A, F is a function of x whose derivative dF/dx approaches zero when x assumes a high value, and G on the whole is independent of x but is influenced by other parameters, such as pH, temperature or the like. The addition of A is controlled in such manner that a set value of the redox potential is maintained. The set value is determined by increasing or decreasing the addition of A in a predetermined manner, whereupon the redox potential is measured, and the measured value is used for determining the set value.
La présente invention se rapporte à une méthode permettant de maintenir la teneur d'une substance A dans une solution aqueuse dans laquelle elle doit être constamment renouvelée et dont le potentiel d'oxydoréduction E, du moins dans les limites de concentration en cause, est exprimé par l'équation suivante : E = G + F(x), x correspondant à la teneur de A, F étant une fonction de x dont la dérivée dF/dx avoisine zéro lorsque x atteint une valeur importante, et G étant essentiellement indépendant de x tout en étant influencée par d'autres paramètres tels le pH, la température et autres facteurs semblables. L'ajout de A est contrôlé de manière à maintenir une valeur de consigne du potentiel d'oxydoréduction. La valeur de consigne est déterminée en augmentant ou en diminuant l'ajout de A dans des proportions prédéterminées et en mesurant le potentiel d'oxydoréduction, la valeur mesurée étant utilisée pour déterminer la valeur de consigne.
