Reduced alcohol antiseptic mouthwash compositions are achieved which have the same oral antimicrobial efflcacy efficacy, clarity and taste as higher alcohol level compositions. Availability of the active ingredients is best maitaining by increasing the levels of surfactant employed in the composition together with the addition of two co-solvents, propylene glycol and glycerin. Propylene glycol with artificial sweetener(s), or propylene glycol alone with corresponding increases in the levels of surfactant are only marginally acceptable.
