ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A method of agglomerating polydextrose and preparing reduced-calorie confectionery tablets including agglomerated polydextrose is disclosed. The method includes spraying polydextrose powder or polydextrose and a bulking agent homogeneously mixed together with a binding solution under fluidized-bed agglomeration conditions to increase the particle size of the polydextrose providing a confectionery pressed tablet feedstock which flows readily and has significantly improved compressibility. Confectionery tablets made in accordance with the present method are uniform in weight, and appearance. The confections are resistant as well as to capping, chipping and less likely to crumble when residing in the oral cavity.
