Abstract of the Disclosure Compounds of formula I Image (I) are provided, which have the capability of reducing pertechnetate without adding reducing agents to an oxidation state smaller than +7, to form, by groups Y and Z, stable complexes with the thus reduced technetium or rhenium isotopes and to accumulate selectively in certain tissues or lesions, which selectivity is optionally because of a compound coupled through a functional group contained in R1. The technetium and rhenium complexes of the compounds of formula I, as well as their salts with organic and inorganic acids, can be used in in vivo diagnosis and treatment, e.g., in the treatment of tumors.
