A system and method for maximizing the standby time of mobile communication devices that have WiFi or other high energy-consuming network interfaces, by predicting in real time actionable silent periods (ASPs) of the interface and shutting the interface down during these ASPs. Standby times are significantly increased, resulting in longer periods of operation before battery charging is required, while keeping minimal the probabilities of missing incoming data packets when the interface is turned off.
L'invention porte sur un système et un procédé maximisant le temps de veille de dispositifs mobiles à capacité WiFi ou d'autres interfaces de réseaux à forte consommation d'énergie en prédisant en temps réel les périodes de silences activables (ASPs) de l'interface et en arrêtant l'interface pendant ces périodes. On accroît sensiblement les temps de veille et donc la durée de fonctionnement entre les recharges de batterie, tout en maintenant minimales les probabilités de manquer des paquets de données entrantes lorsque l'interface est arrêté.
