ABSTRACT REDUCING STORAGE TANK CAPACITY USING A CROSSLINKED POLYMER GEL A process for reducing the capacity of a fluid storage tank by placing a predetermined volume of a flowing gelation solution com- prising a polymer and crosslinking agent in the tank and gelling the solution to form a non-flowing gel. The gel is substantially immis- cible and inert in the fluid stored in the volume of the tank not displaced by the gel. If it is desired to restore the tank to its original capacity, the crosslinked polymer gel can be degraded and removed from the tank.
