REED VALVE ASSEMBLY FOR ROTARY ENGINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A wing-type reed valve assembly is used in an induction part of a rotary engine. The valve assembly comprises a converging cluster of tent-like portions having side walls extending at an angle with respect to the main line of flow through the port and openings therethrough, a plurality of flexible thin strips fixedly secured at one side of each opening to normally close the same, and a plurality of steps which are aligned and adjacent each strip for supporting the same in the fully opened condition and which are less than the associated full strip configuration, so that backflow pressure may have access to act on the strip.
