The invention is a refastenable mechanical fastening system, made of free formed prongs (22) joined to a substrate (24). The prongs (22) taper and are nonperpendicularly oriented relative to the plane of the substrate. The prongs (22) also have an azimuthal angle relative to the machine direction of the substrate. Each prong (22) has an engaging means (30) projecting laterally from the periphery of the prong. The free formed prongs are manufactured by the process of depositing liquid material onto a moving substrate, stretching the liquid material in a direction parallel to the plane of the substrate, severing the stretched material to form the distal end and engaging means of the prong, and imparting an azimuthal angle to the prong. The advantageous usage of the fastening system in an article of manufacture, such as a disposable absorbent garment, specifically a diaper, is also disclosed.
Système d'attache mécanique réutilisable fait de broches (22) n'ayant pas de forme particulière et étant reliées à un subjectile (24). Les pointes des broches (22) sont non perpendiculaires au plan du subjectile. De plus, les broches (22) ont un azimut par rapport à la direction de fabrication du subjectile. Chaque broche est munie d'éléments d'engagement latéraux fixés debout à la périphérie de la broche. Ces broches sans forme particulière sont fabriquées au moyen d'un processus qui consiste à : déposer une matière liquide sur un subjectile en mouvement; étendre la matière liquide dans une direction parallèle au plan du subjectile; séparer la matière liquide étendue de façon à ce qu'elle forme l'extrémité distale et les éléments d'engagement de la broche; donner un angle d'azimut à la broche. Le brevet porte également sur l'utilisation avantageuse du système d'attache dans la fabrication d'un article comme un vêtement absorbant jetable, plus particulièrement une couche.
