ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A refrigerant compressor has a compressor section and an electric motor section within a closed casing and a crank shaft having a main shaft portion fixed to the rotor of the electric motor section, an eccentric portion for driving the compressor section and an end journal portion. The main shaft portion is supported by a main bearing while the journal portion is supported by a journal portion bear- ing, and the eccentric portion of the crank shaft is pro- vided at its portion of minimum eccentricity with a peri- pheral oil groove extending substantially parallel to the axis of the crank shaft and which is communicated at its one end with an oil groove formed in the peripheral surface of the main shaft portion and at its other end with an oil groove formed in the peripheral surface of the journal por- tion.
