ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Alloy fibers having high fluid-holding capacity, and a method for making the same, the alloy fibers being comprised of a matrix of regenerated cellulose having polyvinylpyrrolidone dispersed thereon. The polyvinylpyrrolidone may be present in combination with an anionic polymer. The fibers are made by spinning into a coagulating bath a blend of viscose and an N- vinyl amide polymer, the proportions of added polymer being at least about 7% of the total.
