85-327 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for regenerating a spent, naturally occurring catalyst characterized by an iron content of about 10 to 70 wt.% as metal comprises contacting the spent catalyst with a mixture of water vapor and air in a water vapor/air ratio of between 1:1 to 20:1 at a flow rate of about 0.1 to 50 1/min., a temperature of about 200 to 700°C, a pressure of about 0.3 to 80 atmospheres for a time of about 0.1 to 20 hours so as to obtain a regenerated catalyst having a crystallinity value of about 1.0 to 6.5. -36-
