ABSTRACT For web register control system, optical scanner assemblies comprising flexible light conduits terminating adjacent the web path with shaped light apertures suitably dimensionally correlated with the dimensions of the marks to be sensed and readily adjusted to desired longitudinal, lateral and angular positions relative to each other for optimum optical coupling with the marks to be sensed. Further disclosure relates to shifting of the scanner assemblies, along with the printing cylinder or the like relative to the web so as to establish a desired lateral registration with respect to previously applied patterns on the web.
