Malignant tumours in mammalian patients are diagnosed by a process of excising and tissue culturing the tumour to determine primary defects of a metabolic pathway of the cells, determining the responsible oncogene by analyzing the abnormalities in the genetic material, and by comparing the results with the contents of a data bank of oncogenes and their metabolic pathway characteristics previously compiled, so as to obtain from the data bank additional characterizing information about the oncogene and the abnormal metabolic pathways associated with it, and to obtain indications of appropriate treatment regiments.
