ABSTRACT A composite structure is reinforced and assembled utilizing barbed quill fasteners. By using such fasteners, the structure can be formed while in a staged condition. This allows co-curing and bonding of the elements of the structure in a joined condition. Additionally, by virtue of the use of the barbed quills and their being strategically implanted in the structure, peel forces in the structural joint are minimized.
