- 1 - Abstract: A novel concrete construction element is described, as well as a metal reinforcing strip for use in the element. The construction element is in the form of a cast concrete element having a metal reinforcing strip mechanically embedded in at least one edge thereof. The reinforcing strip has a central web portion with a pair of flange members extending away from the side edges of the web. Preferably, the free longitudinal edges of the flanges turn inwardly and these inwardly turned portions have undulations extending along the length thereof. The shape of the reinforcing strip is such that when the concrete sets around the flanges during casting, there is provided a very secure mechanical interlock between the flanges and the concrete and the strip becomes a major contributor to the total strength of the completed element.
