F-1252 REINFORCED FILM AND LAMINATING METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURE THEREOF Abstract A fiber-reinforced composite film sheet 200 is produced by continuously forming a first planar lap from a plurality of machine-direction (MD) fibers 201 and continuously forming a second planar lap from a single fiber 203 as transverse-direction (TD) reaches which are connected by 180° loops 205 by stretching the fiber 203 between a horizontally diverging pair of chain assemblies. Both laps are continuously straddled with a pair of co-extruded plastics films 208 which extend transversely beyond the loops 205, the films and fibers are vertically converged to form a sandwich. The sandwich is then sealed within strips close to its side edges but inwardly of the loops, the loops 205 are lifted from the chain assemblies and the sandwich is laminated with heat and pressure to form the composite film sheet.
