ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel book cover is provided herein having a reinforced hinge. The book cover has first and second leafboards having respec- tive first and second portions in opposed, spaced and parallel relationship. A reinforcing member is provided which includes first and second edges overlapping and which is secured to the first and second edge portions, respectively. A hinge member is provided which over- laps and is adhered to the outer surface of the reinforcing member and extends beyond the first and second edges of the reinforcing member to overlap and directly adhere to the first and second edge portions of the leafboards, respectively. An inner layer of material overlaps and is adhered to the inner surface of the reinforcing member, the longitudinal edges of the inner layer being spaced from the first and second edge portion of the leafboards, respectively. In this way, the composite structure of the reinforcing member, hinge member and inner layer are all adhered together and cooperate to form a reinforced hinge for a book cover. The direct adherence of the hinge member to the leafboard provides a superior bond. The reinforced hinge in the book cover has greater strength and durability to resist tearing and/or cracking during continued use.
