A pair of cross brace members are diagonally positioned within an internal cavity of a refrigerator door shell that is defined by an outer front panel, side walls and in-turned, return flanges. The cross brace members are generally L-shaped in cross-section and are inter engaged at central portions thereof which are specifically configured with respective cut-out connection portions to aid in assembly and positioning of the cross brace members. The cross brace members have tabs at terminal ends thereof which extend above planes defined by generally horizontally extending upper sections of the cross brace members. These tabs are adapted to rest upon respective ones of the return flanges to initially mount the cross brace members within the door shell. Once the cross brace members are appropriately positioned with the door shell, insulation foam is supplied into the internal cavity. The foam flows through longitudinally spaced holes provided in generally upright sections of the cross brace members and around the cross brace members. Once the insulation foam hardens, the cross brace members become fixed to the door shell such that a reinforced refrigerator door assembly is defined. An inner door liner can then be attached to the return flanges.
Cette invention concerne un moyen de renforcement de porte de réfrigérateur, composé d'une paire de profilés disposés en diagonale dans la coquille de la porte définie par un panneau de façade, des parois latérales et un rebord rabattu vers l'intérieur. Les profilés sont à section généralement en L et comportent en leur point milieu des encoches visant à faciliter leur assemblage et leur mise en place. Lesdits profilés ont à chacune de leurs extrémités une patte décalée par rapport au plan généralement horizontal matérialisé par leur petite aile, pattes façonnées pour prendre appui sur les rebords correspondants des parois latérales à la mise en place initiale. Une fois les profilés correctement disposés à l'intérieur de la coquille de porte, un produit isolant est moussé en place, ledit produit pouvant traverser les profilés par des trous ménagés dans leur grande aile et les enrober complètement. En durcissant, l'isolant fixe les profilés à demeure dans la coquille de porte qui s'en trouve renforcée et qui peut recevoir alors un panneau intérieur à être fixé aux rebords de la coquille.
