A medical device includes an elongated member and a reinforced retention structure. The device can be used for draining substances from organs or abscessed areas within a body of a patient. The elongated member is made of a flexible material. The reinforced retention structure extends from or is formed integrally with the elongated member and comprises an elastic member and the flexible material. The reinforced retention structure provides retention strength while providing flexibility and patient comfort. The use of the reinforced retention structure also provides increased stability to the device within the patient's body and combats migration and/or expulsion of the device. The nature of the reinforcement in the retention structure may extend into the elongated member, which allows for larger drainage openings in the device and increases the radiopacity of the device.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif médical comprenant un élément allongé et une structure de rétention renforcée. Le dispositif peut être utilisé pour drainer des substances à partir d'organes ou de zones d'abcès se trouvant à l'intérieur du corps d'un patient. L'élément allongé est constitué de matériau flexible. La structure de rétention renforcées s'étend à partir de l'élément allongé ou est formée intégralement avec celui-ci, et comprend un élément élastique et la matériau flexible. La structure de rétention renforcée permet à une force de rétention de s'exercer, tout en ayant une bonne flexibilité et en fournissant du confort au patient. L'utilisation de la structure de rétention renforcée permet également d'obtenir une meilleure stabilité du dispositif à l'intérieur du corps du patient et d'éviter la migration et/ou l'expulsion du dispositif. Le renfort de la structure de rétention peut s'étendre à l'intérieur de l'élément allongé, ce qui permet au dispositif de présenter plus grandes ouvertures de drainage et de lui donner une meilleure radiopacité.
