Abstract The present invention is directed to a reinforced therapeutic tube comprising a tubular body member having a spirally formed reinforcing material embedded into the tubular wall and a tubular end portion without reinforc- ing material which is axially, integrally connected to at least one end of the reinforced tubular body portion. According to the novel feature, at least the end of the spirally formed reinforcing material adjacent the integ- rally connected end portion is bent axially inwardly of the end of the reinforced body portion a distance such that it engages at least one adjacent spiral turn of the reinforcing material, with the tip of the bent-back por- tion being encased within the wall of the reinforced body portion. The reinforced therapeutic tube of the present invention is particularly useful in the fields of anesthe- sia and respiratory control as catheters, oral and nasal endotracheal tubes and tracheal cannulae.
