ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A wood beam provided with reinforcement to increase the tensional strength, in particular in its bottom portion to thus allow its use for relatively longer free spans and/or heavier floor or roof loads. This wood beam is economically made of wafer boards, reinforcing filaments in a channel along the bottom longitudinal edge of the beam, and adhesive bonding the filaments in the channel and to the associated wood boards. Crosscut incisions are provided along the longitudinal joint to increase the surface of adherence for the adhesive. This beam is especially used as a floor joist along with an L-shaped header joist and a reverse T center beam also made of wafer board. A complete floor system is thus provided.
