ABSTRACT A protective bridge prevents plaster at the lateral edges of window sills from crumbling due to the action of vibrations, wind and thermal expansion. The protective bridge has a piece of elastic plastic profiled section which surrounds one of the lateral end portions of the window sill. After the protective bridge is mounted on the lateral end portion of the window sill, fastening pins seated in the profiled section project into the space to be filled with the plaster of the embrasure and the facade. First, the window sill together with its lateral end portions is mounted, then a protective bridge is fastened to the lateral end portions on each side and finally the plaster is applied to the embrasure and the facade.
