A reinforcing member for paperback book covers that is affixed to the inside cover of paperback books to prevent deformation or to correct previous damage to the book cover, such as curled or bent corners. The reinforcing member comprises ribs or arms having free ends that extend towards the free end corners of the paperback book cover and of non-free ends that are connected at a point proximal to the spine of the paperback book. Other embodiments of the invention include unconnected members or a reinforcing mesh, both of which are affixed to the inside cover of the paperback book. The reinforcing member, in any of its embodiments is suitable for books of different sizes as the member can either be cut to the appropriate size, or may contain additional features such as a pivoting connecting joint and extensible arms.
