In order to mask indicia and messages on the exterior of a flip-top cigarette box, a substantially-rectangular-parallepiped shell or sleeve is provided. The shell or sleeve includes a front wall, a back wall and a pair of side wall each side wall is joined to the front wall at respective lateral fold lines and to the back wall at respective lateral fold lines. The front wall includes a lower major partial wall and an upper minor partial wall which are defined by a transverse cut line therethrough extending between the lateral fold lines to extend upwardly and angularly through the side walls as far as the lateral fold lines of said back wall. The back wall has a transverse fold or hinge line joining the upper edges of the cut lines which extends through the side wall. This fold or hinge line provides a hinge to enable the upper minor partial wall to pivot from a closed position, where it is contiguous with the lower major partial wall, to an open position, where it is upwardly and angularly disposed with respect to the lower major partial wall.
