2053307 9114254 PCTABS00007 An anchoring apparatus (120, 220, 320, 420) for anchoring and tensioning a sheet material (14) on a panel structure (10), such as a billboard. A preferred channel-shaped base member (124, 224, 324, 424) is secured to the rear of the panel structure (10) and includes a clip member (140, 240, 340, 440) slidably interconnected with the base member. The clip member is selectively biased to tension the sheet material, or disengaged to release or relax the sheet material, preferably by way of a spring member (150, 250, 450) and by way of actuation of a preferred built-in anchoring handle mechanism (280, 380, 498) thus greatly facilitating the ease and speed of erection, anchoring, tensioning and removal of the sheet material.
