C-TT-1160 RELEASABLE COUPLING Abstract of the Disclosure A high strength releasable coupling particularly adapted for quick and simple interconnection of pipe or piling sections has mating cylindrical male and female members releasably interlocked by multiple locking pins passing tangentially through the members. The pins are received within spaced sets of complemental bores in the female member and extend partially through a corresponding annular groove formed in the male member whereby the members may be locked together in axial alignment without requiring rotation about their axes. The arrangement of the bores in each set is such that the axes of the pins circumscribe the male member when the members are interlocked thereby evenly distributing axial loads on the coupling while also providing superior endurance to bending loads. In preferred forms each set of bores is angularly offset about the axes of the members relative to the other bore sets for improved loading. -1-
