ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sustatined release devoce is provided herein which comprises a source of at least one trace chemical element incorporated in a coherent mass formed by reaction between a Bronsted acid and a base, and releasable therefrom on contact with a polar liquid, e.g. an aqueous medium. This may preferably be used in prophylaxis or therapy.
