Focusing on the fact that choroidal angiogenesis is accelerated by macular subretinal inflammation, attempts are made to develop a drug which inhibits the initiation or progress of angiogenesis caused by an angiogenetic factor such as VEGF. More specifically, it is clarified that the development of choroidal angiogenesis is inhibited by administering an anti-IL-6 receptor monoclonal antibody to a mouse having been subjected to laser photocoagulation.
