A cathodic protection monitoring system for buried metal objects comprising a transponder hard-wire connected to a sacrificial anode and a reference electrode, each of the transponder, the sacrificial anode and the reference electrode being buried underground in close proximity to the buried metal object to be protected, thereby forming a first principal circuit between the sacrificial anode and the buried metal object and forming a second principal circuit between the reference electrode and the buried metal object. The system further comprises a portable transceiver disposed above ground tuned to a frequency of the transponder. Power for operation of the transponder is drawn from the cathodic protection circuit, thereby obviating the need for connections to above ground power supplies.
L'invention concerne un système de surveillance de protection cathodique à distance utile pour des objets métalliques enfouis, qui comporte un câble de répéteur connecté à une anode perdue et à une électrode de référence; le répéteur, l'anode perdue et l'électrode de référence sont chacun enfouis dans le sol à proximité immédiate de l'objet métallique à protéger, ce qui permet de former un premier circuit principal entre l'anode perdue et l'objet métallique enfoui, et de former un deuxième circuit principal entre l'électrode de référence et l'objet métallique enfoui. Le système comporte en outre un émetteur-récepteur portatif placé au-dessus du sol et réglé à une fréquence du répéteur. Le courant permettant au répéteur de fonctionner est tiré du circuit de protection cathodique, ce qui permet d'éviter de devoir utiliser des connexions à des alimentations électriques situées au-dessus du sol.
