A method for collaborating remotely that incorporates the use of high- resolution computer imagery, or any other source of high-resolution video, is provided. The method provides for converting high-resolution video or analog RGB computer video into for example, High Definition Television (HDTV) signals or keep the RGB computer signal in its original format but in digital form. These signals are then compressed, encoded and transmitted over a broadband communication network. At a remote location (112), the signals are decompressed, decoded by a decoder (152) and displayed on an HDTV-capable display device (115) or a normal analog-RGB computer monitor.

L'invention concerne un procédé de collaboration à distance faisant appel à l'imagerie informatique à haute résolution, ou n'importe quelle autre source ou vidéo à haute résolution. Le procédé consiste à convertir de la vidéo à haute résolution ou de la vidéo informatique RVB analogique en, par exemple, signaux de télévision à haute définition (HDTV) ou conserve la signal informatique RVB dans son format d'origine mais sous forme numérique. Ces signaux sont alors comprimés, codés et transmis sur un réseau de communication à bande large. Au niveau d'un emplacement distant (112), les signaux sont décompressés, décodés par un décodeur (152) et affichés sur un dispositif d'affichage (115) capable de reproduire la HDTV ou bien un moniteur informatique RVB analogique normal.
