A remote, electrical steering system for marine vehicles including an electrical motor (38) operable by a control and power circuit to rotate a drive screw (210) having a screw connection to a nut (256) in a drive tube (254) for moving the drive tube (254) in translation to cause steering movement of motor/rudder (14) with the control circuit sensing various fault conditions for placing the electrical motor (38) in a brake condition to inhibit inadvertent steering and with the screw and nut connection resisting backlash from the motor/rudder (14) to inhibit inadvertent steering and isolate the electrical motor (38) and associated gearing from backlash loads.

Système de manoeuvre électrique à distance pour des bateaux, comprenant un moteur électrique (38) pouvant être actionné par un circuit de commande et de puissance afin de mettre en rotation une vis d'entraînement (210). Celle-ci est connectée de manière filetée à un écrou (256) ménagé dans un tube de guidage (254), afin de produire un mouvement de translation dans le tube de guidage (254) qui va entraîner un mouvement de guidage du moteur/gouvernail (14).
