A login module for connection to a communications and control hub in a vehicle. The login module comprises means for receiving input from a potential operator of the vehicle; and means for authenticating the potential operator of the vehicle on a basis of the input and, responsive to successful authentication of the potential operator of the vehicle, causing the communications and control hub to send a command signal instrumental in enabling a vehicle function. The vehicle function may be a vehicle ignition or an ability to unlock vehicle brakes. The login module is particularly useful for fleet management and secure authentication of fleet drivers.
