A remote unlocking apparatus is disclosed for unlocking a cover for a truck enclosure. The apparatus includes a catch which is rigidly secured to and within the truck enclosure. A latch is secured to the cover, the latch being disposed within the truck enclosure and adjacent to the catch for releasably engaging the catch for locking the cover to the truck enclosure. A manual mechanism is fastened to the cover and connected to the latch for permitting manual release of the latch from the catch for opening the cover. An actuator is connected to the latch for sliding the latch from a first location thereof in which the latch engages the catch for fastening the cover to the truck enclosure to a second location thereof in which the latch is disengaged from the catch so that the cover is released from the truck enclosure. A control is operably connected to the actuator for permitting remote control of the actuator for selectively sliding the latch between the first and second locations thereof. The arrangement is such that remote opening of the cover is permitted.
