ABSTRACT Disclosed is a remotely addressable controller and in particular a loopback device which can be addressed and operated remotely by D.T.M.F. (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) data signals transmitted from a central office. The device includes a C.P.U. having one set of inputs which can be addressed by setting switches and a second set of inputs which receive decoded D.T.M.F. signals from the central office. If address signals on the second set of inputs match those on the first set, the C.P.U. accepts subsequent control signals to actuate relays. The relays have contacts to set up either line loopback or equipment loopback. An LED provides a visual indication of loopback. A switch on the device allows loopback to be effected manually.
