A mitt and a method for using a mitt. The mitt comprises of a front layer and a back layer attached around their peripheries to form a finger enclosing pocket, a thumb pocket and a hand opening. The front and back layer have an outer lining and a magnet is secured to the interior surface of the outer lining. A method of using a mitt with a magnet comprises of storing the mitt against a metal surface and withdrawing the hand from the mitt so that the mitt remains attached to the metal surface and removing the mitt from storage by inserting one's hand into the hand opening without the aid of a second hand and then removing the mitt from the metal surface.
