A single-step acid degumming/decolorizing process removes chlorophyll-type compounds from vegetable oils from seeds, especially frost damaged seeds which having large amounts of chlorophyll-type compounds. A mixture of aqueous sulfuric and phosphoric acids is blended with the oil to remove chlorophyll- type compounds from the oil. The purified oil has less than about 5 ppm chlorophyll-type compounds, less than about 50 ppm phosphorus and less than about 1.0 weight percent free fatty acids.

Cette invention concerne un procédé en une seule opération de dégommage/décoloration acide destiné à extraite des composés de type chlorophylle d'huiles végétales tirées de graines, en particulier des graines endommagées par le gel qui renferment de grandes quantités de composés de type chlorophylle. On mélange à l'huile un mélange d'acides sulfurique et phosphorique aqueux afin d'extraire des composés de type chlorophylle de ladite huile. L'huile ainsi purifiée renferme moins de 5 ppm environ de composés de type chlorophylle, moins de 50 ppm environ de phosphore et moins de 1,0 % en poids d'acides gras libres.
